Meeting called to order at 6:07pm.
Pledge of Allegiance was said.
President welcomed everyone at the meeting.
 
Secretary Report~Mary
  • April  minutes were read. 
  • Motion to accept report made by Gnu and seconded by Charlene.  Open discussion was asked for.    It was then passed by oral vote.
 
Treasurers Report~Todd
  • General account:  $
  • Gambling account:  $
  • Todd had no new amounts for gambling .  Motion to accept report made by Charlene  and seconded by Moose.  Open discussion was asked for.  It was then passed by oral vote.
 
President report~Hives
  • He talked about having a good time at ABATE U.  He reminded people to watch out for cars while biking.  Also, he talked about Dial-a-ride and what to do with the packages.  
 
Vice President report~Damon
  •  He also talked about ABATE U , hoping that everyone had a good time.  He liked the classes that he was able to attend.

State Rep~Mike
  • It was noted that the number of deaths from motorcycles was down in 2009.
  • He talked about pins for Biker Day.  If anyone wants one the cost is $3.00.  He also talked about the the number of new congressmen that will be at the capitol next year. 
  • He talked about the new classification of sport bikes.
  • There is concern about the highway bill that is being presented,  that Frank Lautenberg will slip a helmet law into it.
  • Mike talked about the State Rally bike raffle tickets.
  • Also, he talked about filling out tri-folds by the chapter members to make sure the info is legible.
  • Derek asked about the failure to yield bill, but Mike didn't have any info on that subject.
 
Government Relations Liaison~Derek
  • He spoke  about the 2 year ban on ATVs and small motorcycles lead ban. 
  • He would like everyone to contact their congressmen about the bill HR1587, which is a bill to force the Consumer Products Safety Commission to exempt ATVs and small motorcycles from the lead restriction for children.
  • Derek also mentioned that the number of motorcycle deaths is down. 
 
Gambling~Kinger
  • He said there are ABATE U bike raffle tickets that need to be sold.  He brought books along for people to take and sell.
 
Public Relations/Historian~Mary
  • Scrapbook has been updated for April.  There are lots of awesome pics in the scrapbook from ABATE U. 
 
Events Committee~Jory
  • Not present.
 
Website~Warren
  • Not present.
 
Patriot Guard~Vince
  • He spoke about what a great organization the PGR are.  He said that they can use all the members they can get, even if a person is not available to help with funerals and welcoming home the Vets.   He suggested going to the website to check it out.  Moose talked about how amazing it was when his plane landed and the PGR was there to welcome the troops.
 
Old Business~
  • No old business.
 
New Business~
  • Tent for State Rally- Charlene made a motion to get the tent.  Val seconded it.  All in favor. 
  • The July meeting was discussed.  We decided to have it on the 10th of July since most of the Chapter will be in Algona, IA on the  3rd.  Spoon made a motion.  Val seconded it.  It was approved by everyone.
  • Todd mentioned that Lowry Days are coming up, June 26th.  Lowry would like GR to check id's and collect money for tickets.  4 people are needed.  Spoon made a motion to attend Lowry Days.  Robert King seconded it.  It was approved by all members. 
  • The Hospice Run in Glenwood, on June 19th.  Charlene made a motion to donate $200 to this event.  Brittany seconded it.  Motion was carried with approving it. 
 
Open Discussion~
  •  We talked about the WayWest Weekend Memorial Bash and the LTD run that is coming up in July.
 
Hives asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Spoon made the motion and it was seconded by Gnu.  It passed by oral vote.
