Glacial Ridge Chapter Minutes
Saturday August 5, 2006 6pm

Meeting called to order at 6:05pm.
 
Secretaries report read by Vonnie.  Motion to accept made by Jim, seconded by Julie, and passed by oral vote.
 
Treasurers Report~ Todd:

Gambling account:
Motion to accept made by Derrick, seconded by Snap, and passed by oral vote.
 
State Reps Report~ Chuckles (read by Deano):
  • Thank you to Deano for being Chuckles stand in for the BOD meeting.
  • Next ABATE U committee meeting will be on October 7th at the Perkins in Buffalo. 
  • Failure to yield did not pass due to wording this will be the key issue next legislative session.  
  • Motion made at BOD to reimburse Tom Workman $5000 for some of his expenses to help us at the capitol.
  • Meeting of the Minds will be held in September in Indiana and in Minnesota in 2009.
  • Buddy Bears are in and now need to get to the designated fire departments.
  • Gates at state rally open up Thursday August 31 at 8am.
  • Patriot Guard Riders are looking for more members... if interested go to patriotguard.org.
  • October BOD will be in the cities.
  • District meeting will be September 30th 2pm at the Hunt in Montevideo.
  • Treasures report at the BOD and there was an audit.  They donated for showers and had a 5013B number instead of a 501c3 number.  Money ended up coming out of the general account rather than gambling.
  • Deano asked bike PAC for a detailed report of where the money went.
  • State Rally band canceled and Sweet Daddy's Roadhouse will now be playing.
 
Vice Presidents Report~ Rodney:
  • Paper to fill out to ride in parade. 
  • Clean up in Litchfield August 27th at 9am.
  • Went on LTD ride and it was great, there were approx. 167 on ride. Go if you have the chance next year. 
Government Relations Liaison~ Steve:
  • Government elections in November and this will be our chance to alter the political landscape.               
  • Dave "Too Tall" Carlson is running for an office and please donate all you can to his campaign.
  • Mandatory helmet law stays in Michigan.
  • Any letters you send to legislators will qualify you for a "Write to Ride" patch.
 
Public Relations/Historian~ Vonnie:
  • Books are here and updated.
 
Events Committee~Craig:
  • Want to set up a ride for state rally... Leave Pilgrim Inn in Regal at 5. 
  • August 19th is Sedan Daze we will meet at 7:30pm for security.
 
Website~ Warren:
  • Things are looking great but we need more pics to add to website.
 
Old Business:
  • Tent for state rally is ordered and will be ready to go.
  • Security at Revy's went well and we collected $180.
  • We have the sign to put up in the bar now and it looks great.
  • Drawing for state rally tickets: Julie Hemen, Val Vanderweyst, Spoon Woolery, Beth Lint, Howie Ogaard, Harry Lee, and Bob Sturges. Still have some that need to be claimed.
  • We are working security at state rally from 8pm to midnight on Friday.
 
New Business:
  • Chuckles read a blurb on deer crossings and it takes 5 accidents before a deer crossing sign is placed.
 
Open Discussion:
  • Motion made by Jim to have next years state rally tickets (for sponsorship) be picked out of those who work at events, seconded by Mark. Deano makes an amendment to keep meeting attendees in the mix but add the names of people who have worked events. Val made another amendment to, if funds permit, up our sponsorship to $500 getting us 14 tickets and splitting the tickets 7 to meeting attendees and 7 to event volunteers.
  • With all friendly amendments made motion to accept made by Craig, seconded by Bugs, and passed by oral vote.
Next meeting is held at state rally.
 
Motion to adjourn made by Julie, seconded by Jim, and passed by oral vote.
 
Meeting adjourned at 7:03pm.
